Im always told its condescending to reference the dozens of philosophers and writers that Ive had to study to grasp these concepts and try to explain them... But I dont hear anyone telling Neil deGrasse Tyson that he is condescending for explaining the things he learned from Carl Sagan and other incredible scientists.... and correcting people when they incorrectly oppose a scientific theory. Spend 20 years studying physics and people respect you as a learned physicist. Spend 20 years studying evolutionary biologist and people respect you as a learned evolutionary biologist. Spend 20 years studying economic theories and people respect you as an economist... but spend 20 years studying political theory, and people tell you to stop being a condescending asshole because your understanding of the subject is no better than their own.
