Im annoyed by and concerned with the fact that a post I was just about to comment on has been deleted. Its incredibly bad form to censor people, even more so if HSWA does not have formal guidelines setting out grievance resolution procedures. This seems to be a common issue popping up around secular/humanist/atheist groups recently. My response to a post about Israel is below. Some of it may not make sense to those who did not read the initial post (this is also why deleted posts should be screencapped). It is best and common practice, when an event such as that happening in Gaza occurs, for organisations such as HSWA to release a public statement (approved by whatever protocol the executive have laid out to them) outlining said organisations position on the issue, and including any necessary condemnations of the actions being taken. It /is/ a shame that HSWA has not done so. Especially when the humanist sphere of public discourse has a clear vested interest in this theistic and sectarian conflict. Most other organisations would have had an emergency motion/resolution put forward; and their executive would even email vote if some voting members were out of the country (as has been stated).
