Im apologize in advance that this is rather long.... I commented on this CBS6 news story a little while ago because it completely flustered me to read the comments. Im not judging the accusations, Im not saying Bill Cosby is guilty nor innocent...I simply support the not-so-crazy notion that these scenarios are absolutely possible because, in fact, they are possible! Out of ONE HUNDRED NINETY SEVEN (197!!!!) comments that were posted at the time I commented, ONLY NINE (9!!!!) supported the victim or the mere possibility of this woman being raped. Again, NINE...OUT OF 197. The other comments denied, accused the victim, blamed the victim, criticized the victim, and verbally attacked her by name calling and degradation in every sense of the word. I am DISGUSTED. These people ask why a victim doesnt/didnt come forward to receive further humiliation after already experiencing such a life changing, humiliating, traumatic and sickening act???? It breaks my heart. I have been there, I am in no way alone, and sadly I dont see a future that looks much brighter after reading these comments from our so-called community, our society. If we want to put an end to a problem, we must first acknowledge the actual size of the problem at hand. By BLAMING victims and creating an atmosphere where victims chose not to come forward, we are SUPPORTING the continued criminal behavior of rapists. PLEASE STEP UP TO PUT AN END TO VICTIM BLAMING.
