Im assisting my brothers KL-based security company to supply Nepalese security guards in Langkawi. We have no problems with these foreigners actually. Theyre brilliant and hard-working. They look good too in their uniforms. Its the local guards that were having issues with :). From my one year experience managing the business from Langkawi end, I discovered that the Malays here are not in need of money. The pattern is like this: they prefer to work for only xxx number of hours a day, not the 12-hour security guard shift!!! They prefer to have free time for idling or doing daily chores like attending to their paddy fields, cows and buffaloes as well as going fishing rather than earn a days income. When there is a community kenduri, they need time off, when a neighbour dies, they need time off. Then, when they work, they sleep on the job........CCTVs are a must. And why do we prefer to hire foreigners??? Tell me again please :).
