Im back, full of pasta and culture and ready to create some beastly routes with tricky at the The Reach - climbing wall. I havent had a chance to write up the next exercise on the pull-up series so thought Id post this core exercise instead. Im using a 10kg core bag but you can do it with anything from a barbell to a medicine ball, the end result is the same, to create an adequate resistance to the trunk of the body. 1. Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart and the weight over head. 2. Alternately bend sideways at the waist, as you perform this exercise your range of motion will increase, the first 2 or 3 reps will feel stiff. We are training planes of motion and movement instead of targeting a particular muscle. Practice makes perfect, if it is painful or overly uncomfortable reduce the resistance! Try 3 sets of 8 to start, and then go from there. Train hard, climb hard!
