Im curious as to what yall feed the birds. I used to feed only safflower and plain suet. I had a variety of birds....cardinals, doves, chickadees, titmice, woodpeckers, etc. I did not have starling, grackles or squirrels. Just last winter I got some shelled sunflower/peanut mixture for my window feeder. I realized that the mockingbirds would eat that. I also realized that I had more activity, so now I feed that blend in other feeders. I also added peanut suet and tree nuts (which the nuthatches, nuthatches, woodpeckers, and titmice love.) I started putting that on my deck rail, along with peanuts in the shell and discovered the blue jays loved those! So, now I feed that variety. I still seem to go through the safflower the quickest...I think that is because the doves eat that a lot. Oh, I also discovered I kind of enjoy the squirrels!
