Im currently in Aberdeen (I did my voting by post) and walked into town a couple of hours ago - it was just like any day there with no evidence at all of the referendum! Very odd :/ For anyone outside the UK who doesnt know - today the people of Scotland have the chance to vote if they want to be an independent nation, independent from England, Wales, and a part of Ireland. Its a huge day. Im finding my own experience of this and reactions to it fascinating. I was raised by a mother who was fiercely proud of her Scottish birth and heritage, and to a father who was English born, very widely travelled and with ancestral bloodlines that extended throughout Europe, including a mother who was a Graham (one of the Scottish clans). I was born in England, right on the Welsh border on a bit of land called Flinshire that I think used to consider itself neither England or Wales. And have now lived 60% of my life in Scotland. So many people have registered to vote in this referendum and so many have got motivated - that feels fabulous. And if feels like it is a good thing whatever the outcome of the vote. I recognise that I am a huge believer in Independence for all - for us each to take responsibility for our own experience. After that where lines are drawn in the earth matters less - especially when we reclaim our power from those we determine to be our masters. I do really hope that the vote comes out for Yes, but can also feel the fear of change underneath that. Change is such a fundamental part of life and I tend towards really loving change, so how it must be for those who enjoy it less than me I can only imagine. And there have been so many seeds of fear sown and tended through the media..... I vote for truth and integrity and I trust that what comes of today is a step closer to that :) And I honour each persons right to make their own choices... And I honour the Scottish blood that flows through me and also the English and Welsh lands that reared me
