Im currently reading a fantasy series that, like most I have found, are dripping in misogyny. The bad guys are baaaad because women are cattle. The good guys are naive because women are not cattle but rather precious and valuable and need to be protected to maintain their role in a patriarchal society. I was thinking, uugghhh, this is really getting old. Am I reading the same story over and over? And then I read the news stories and its all Birth control is for women who are irresponsible and Hobby Lobby bullshit. This IS really getting old. Why are we living the same stories over and over?
