Im disappointed and saddened. I had high hopes this man would serve the post well, yet this does not shine well for Christ. Perhaps - maybe - I have misread this, but from what I understand I see a significant separation from the word of God. Who was Jesus? I ask this because, as the Pope said, everyone will have eternal life - Christian, atheist, pagan, former Christian alike, to name a few. Jesus told Nicodemus no one would see heaven unless he was born again Jn 3; was this simply an inspiring word? Or what of Jesus teaching, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jn 14:6 Is my God the same as the god of...atheists? Communists? They who worship self or mankind do not worship Christ; the deny him, and some persecute him. Are they rewarded eternal life for denying the one who bore the sins of those who believe? Does he who suffers for serving Jesus gain nothing but pain and death? Is it all in vain? Why serve Christ if one can live to gratify the flesh and gain exactly what he who lays down his life for his Saviour? 1 Cor. 15: 12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified [f]against God that He raised [g]Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. I cannot deny my Christ. He is my hope, my life, my all-in-all. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. As the writer of Hebrews wrote, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Heb. 13:8 The truth never changes. If truth is not absolute, there is no base upon which reality can even stand. Otherwise, who can deny murder could be declared righteous one day? Or theft? Rape? But this isnt so, for he does not need to change to keep up with humanity; humanity needs to always remember the Lord is the rock to stand on. This is just part of the issue. I am troubled by what was spoken, and though Im a Protestant I hope the Catholic church doesnt officially skew into an agnostic realm. This is what I see happening following these concepts. Am I wrong? I dont think so. In the beginning was the Word (THE knowledge), and the Word was with God (distinct person), and the Word was God (deity of the Word). And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus. You believe and follow. Or you dont.
