Im down in Austin Texas taking in the music magic of this city. I mean walking around and breathing in the same air Stevie Ray did on so many of those gigs, during the early days earning his wings, has been an amazing feeling for me. The talent down here is so top shelf. Im spending all my days in the studio producing but as soon as the sun goes down, Im hitting the live music venues of Austin like a kid in a candy store. The other night ,out of the blue, I got called up on the stage and had one of those moments. One where you walk off the stage knowing you rose to the occasion. One where you were the best you could be at that moment. One where you look straight into what you need to work on and allowing that feeling to run through you, not control you. Accepting it the way it is. This city is not about the bullshit of the music business. Its about nothing more than being a great live act. The only way to do that is jamming with people that are better than you are and jumping in with a hungry heart. Even at an older age, when I feel that energy of pushing myself beyond the breaking point of fear, I see the magic is still in reach . I feel that again and Im so grateful the Austin crowd dug it.
