Im enjoying the best holiday season of my life. I havent posted about this, but a couple weeks ago I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, which basically means my immune system went rogue and started attacking my nerve cells. In 3 days I went from a bit of weakness in my left hand, to being completely bed-bound in the ICU waiting for a medication to block my immune system before the muscles in my respiratory system stopped working. Fortunately, I avoided the worst symptoms and with a little more than a week working with the folks in the physical rehab unit at Littleton Adventist Hospital (including the practice baby they made for me) I was able to enjoy my daughters first Christmas here at home. Ive got more work to do in physical therapy, but my long term prognosis is good. I couldnt have made the progress Ive made without my amazing wife Holly - while I never had any doubts, Im amazed that somehow she makes me more and more confident every day that I chose the best partner for this journey called life. Thank you also to Colleen and Carl for changing their holiday travel plans to help us. Finally, thanks for the amazing support and encouragement from family and friends - were lucky to have you all in our lives. While I dont wish this specific roller coaster ride on anyone, I hope you all enjoy the rest of your holiday season as much as I am enjoying mine. Best wishes for 2015!
