Im excited and just back from a three day VOLK seminar by Denis - TopicsExpress

Im excited and just back from a three day VOLK seminar by Denis Ryauzov (Денис Ряузов) Hes doing a commendable job everyone and I think his approach will become central when people talk about RMA: this stuff is good. SR Volk instructor Дмитрий Драчин notably put together an exceptional several hour segment on structure and balance breaking and presented other segments daily (including several hours of information on RMA striking techniques). Denis has personally promised me some video of him teaching techniques, and I asked to share them with all of you. He thanked me for posting things in English on CombatLab about VOLK. Hes keen to teach and has a lot of information to share and not much is out in English yet, so its fun for me to talk about it! Since people are interested. Denis is completely professional in his teaching and notably fast in applying his techniques. So fast that without seeing him in person, it would be nearly impossible for me to realize just how much subtlety is packed inside of these VOLK techniques. So this is why I want the video. I will pick out one or two things, show them at real speeds and then slow them down. I hope we can talk about a few of these more subtle points here. I think everyone will be interested. In fact, if you go to Deniss youtube channel and know how to configure HTML 5.0 so you can slow down the video to 1/4 speed, youll notice that it looks like perfectly executed softwork :) The various VOLK clubs have all created promo videos. These might be fun to watch, but whats his teaching like? And hes so fast: what can we learn from him? The fact is, this is a complete system and as is typical in the top Russian style schools, the warmup exercises prepare the body to execute Volk techniques. And OK, so how subtle is this stuff? Heres one of his older videos covering basics before VOLK was formed. Hes really breaking it down for us here, and these days stuff like this is intertwined with all of his techniques. https://youtube/watch?v=zYRmZsbIkng&list=WL&index=202 So its beyond just the mechanical application of the techniques, controlling tension in the other persons body and all that standard stuff. It includes all that well-executed biomechanical stuff as a backup plan, but touches on subtle aspects of human physiology and what can cause the central nervous system to think its a magnificent idea to fall over. Here is the youtube channel run by Denis and others: https://youtube/user/Denis4702 The only thing I have to say about his course is that its absolutely impressive to see RMA principles intertwined with things that would be appealing to those with jobs requiring it. Particularly notable for SR instructors is what hes teaching with stick and knife work.
