Im excited that my letter to the community in The Opelika-Auburn News Sundays paper titled New Year, New Beginnings has already generated speaking opportunities to continue to help others by providing inspiration/encouragement. Heres the letter: With the start of the New Year, I just wanted to share with the community a little bit of what has been going on with the Event Center Downtown and my book. I am so humbled by the amount of support shown throughout the course of the past year with respects to Event Center Downtown and the launch of my book since August. It has been a thrilling ride since I launched “The Girl with the Caterpillar Eyebrows: Survival. Resilience. Triumph.” My purpose has been to inspire those in need of encouragement, and prove that anything truly is possible if you decide to NEVER give up. I’ve known for nine years that I would someday finish writing my book and launch it and I’m proud to finally have the courage to share my story. Sharing the intimate details of my life has not been easy but I felt it would be worth it if sharing helped just one person. I’ve heard from dozens of people whom my story has touched and provided hope to in one way or another and it warms my heart to know that my story has already provided so many with encouragement. I never imagined how tough it would be to pursue a dream, secure funding, or start and continue to grow Event Center Downtown in the midst of the worst downturn in our country’s economy in this lifetime of mine. Nor did I imagine the domino effect on businesses due to the economy. It has not been easy in any way, but thankfully and prayerfully Event Center Downtown is continuing to grow each year holding more and more events than the year prior. The story of my life, including the story of the evolution of starting Event Center Downtown, is a story of never giving up hope, no matter how difficult any situation. I continue to believe that it’s important, especially more so today, to share this story because so many have given up hope. Starting a new year is the time for new beginnings and I am excited to continue this chapter in my life. Please continue to remember us when it comes to hosting business events, conferences, receptions, holiday parties, or even just to stop by for a cocktail or a coca cola. Come join us for one of our weekly events, such as Wine Down Wednesdays from 5pm-8pm or Tuesdays from 7pm-10pm for our All Songwriters Nights. We host a monthly First Friday Jazz night as well featuring the popular band Satin Soul. Let me know if you would like me to speak at a small or large meeting, gathering, or church function. Please contact me or the office if you are interested in a copy of my book and I can send one autographed or direct you to the many stores carrying it as well as Amazon and Kindle. Again, THANK YOU for your faithfulness and steadfast support as I continue my endeavors during the course of the New Year! Sincerely, Lisa Ditchkoff Owner Event Center Downtown 614 N.
