Im excited to have arrived in DC for the White Houses Supercharged Reentry Workshop on how to facilitate reentry of individuals who have left the STEM workforce for an extended period of time due to family or other personal obligations. Somewhat ironically, I am able to attend today because my wife (and fellow Physics PhD) Marianne Engel is covering my Physics 100 class while my mother Bonnie Engel (a biochemist) is taking the day off to take care of our 13-month-old twins. I cant thank them enough for all they do to make my work possible, and I hope to pay this forward by bringing the content from todays workshop back to UMBC!
