Im excited to receive word I will be included in a voters forum in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 23. All of the Eighth District U.S. House candidates are scheduled to participate, to speak and answer questions from the audience. (A flyer was distributed without my name on it before organizers knew I was on the ballot, but I have since been invited.) For those of you in the Cape area, the event begins at 7:00 p.m. It will be held at The Concourse, 429 N. Broadview St. I believe there will be other opportunities to hear/possibly view it later. I will let you know. This forum is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Southeast Missouri and KRCU 90.9FM/88.9 FM. Thanks to them for encouraging the democratic process. (Also, this is the day to speak out for net neutrality on Internet Slowdown Day. Be sure to let the FCC know that we want to keep the Internet free the influence of big money -- no “fast lanes” for those willing to pay extra! Go to fcc.gov to submit a comment before Sept. 15.)
