Im feeling sky high since finishing up with recording yesterday at Tom Tedescos studio in NJ. Brandon Seabrook, Briggan Krauss, and Ingrid Laubrock all are on the recording and they are so ridiculously creative, savvy, flowing, and fun to play music with that they have seriously made my year. What a joy and privilege to be able to do ones work and follow ones muse with such peers and expertise (Im including Tom in this too). Im off the schneid and in the ring: its been about 15 years since I did a studio recording as a bandleader, playing my compositions and Im absolutely psyched. Its not like I have been doing nothing in those 15 years but it aint gonna be 15 until the next one. I start mixing on Monday and am energized for the next round. (Im writing this partly to combat my anger and disappointment about the whole Ferguson, MO thing, the Gaza thing, the Syria thing, and so many damn things!)
