Im finished with the first part of my project; now comes the hard stuff. It appears that everything the ancient Anasazi people did was related to celestial objects. They planted, harvested and celebrated by the positons of the moon and Sun. They built structures that align in sunlight with other stuctures during equinoxs and solstices. They built kivas (places of worship and ceremony as seen below) with posts aligned to the cardinal directions. They made petroglephs to honor the sun and moon. But was that their intent or is this what we modern folks are interpreting. The ancient ones did not have a written language, so the information was either lost or past down through generations. What does folklore say about these relationships? Do the stories match the evidence presented? Im off to the Musuem of New Mexico and to the Ute and Navajo reservation to find out.
