Im genuinely excited to do the ice bucket challenge tomorrow. After seeing a video of a 26 year old ALS patient who has seen his grandmother and mother suffer from ALS it has become so evident that ALS research is finally getting the attention that it deserves. The life expectancy of a patient diagnosed with ALS is only 2-5 years. Think about that for a second. 2 years is half of high school. Thats it. Although the ice bucket challenge annoys a lot of people; its doing its job. Everyone who is annoyed is talking about it and spreading the word. Over 15 million dollars have been donated this year. To anyone who says this is a waste of water: it was also brought up that taking a 20 minute shower is absolutely a bigger waste of water, so your concern is valid, but a couple gallons of water going back into the Earth never hurt anyone, but ALS has hurt millions of people and their families.
