Im getting fed up of reading about the same old festival headliners or rock is dead - not enough new bands big enough to headline festivals anymore or todays big bands cant keep touring forever - wheres the new bands going to come from?... To those people spouting this negativity... how about just putting up with the same old headliners for now, and buy your tickets to the big festivals anyway. Take a look at the bands playing the smaller stages and make an effort for those lower down the bill... you might decide you like em just as much - or even more. Make an effort for those bands doing things a little differently. When a magazine / website or even just people on your friends list recommend a band - check em out at least and if you like em get a ticket to a local live show. Chances are youll be listening to their tunes for free via your computer (Ill say it again...CRAZY BUSINESS MODEL!) so put some money in their pockets by seeing a show. ENCOURAGE NEW MUSIC and stop moaning about the same old bands playing the same old songs. Tomorrows festival headliners are busy playing the UK toilet circuit RIGHT NOW! And, Rock isnt dying either... Ive seen more excellent bands this last 3 years than I have in the whole of my gig going years (First proper gig - Guns N Roses in 1986 before they were big - Ive seen alot of music since then).
