Im getting suggestions about textile museums I might use in a Betsy Devonshire mystery. Unfortunately, most of them involve museums that specialize in quilts. What I need to make this work is an important collection, such as the one in a museum in Santa Fe, NM, to travel as an exhibit (a la the King Tut exhibit). Santa Fe has such things as ancient Chinese embroidered textiles. Id like to see a collection, for example,that includes ancient Egyptian textiles, early examples of lace-making (trapunto), medieval embroidery and tapestries, along with a line of such things coming down the centuries to modern efforts, such as elaborate counted cross stitch and free embroidery (the kind of thing Irene Potter does). Do any of you know of any museum that has such a collection?
