Im girding my loins for the upcoming Storm of Baking. Right now - TopicsExpress

Im girding my loins for the upcoming Storm of Baking. Right now Im looking at two ooey-gooey butter cakes, a pecan pie cake, a lemon chess pie, a regular chess pie, a loaf of Italian herb bread, biscuits, and sausage/cheese rolls. There are peanut-butter/honey balls to do. Perhaps a cornbread cake. If Im feeling ambitious, I may do a taco ring, using crescent rolls. Though, really -- after I do all of the other stuff, how could I possibly have the energy to feel ambitious??? I dont even have my tree decorated yet. Sometimes Im in the mood to decorate everything, sometimes Im not the least interested in it. This is one of the not-interested times. If it wasnt for the kids, I wouldnt do a tree this year. As an aside -- we did a lot of outdoor lights one year. The guys worked on them for a week. They were on a timer, to come on at dusk and go off at midnight. I began having trouble with my internet service; it would go out every night, but be working the next morning. It drove me crazy, because I was working at the time despite being close to Christmas. I finally noticed that every time the lights came on was when the internet would go out, even though there was no connection between the two. The places were the lights were plugged in were even on a different breaker, because I had my office electrical service separate from everything else. The amp service to the house is plenty hefty enough to handle anything I want to plug in, so it wasnt the amount of electricity the lights were drawing. Finally talked to someone at Alabama Power, who was also befuddled, but who began asking around and the question finally got to some computer geeks. Turns out that when that many Christmas lights are turned on, it creates some sort of magnetic field that blocked internet service. Im sure by now theres a way around that problem, but I havent had outdoor lights since. -- Linda H.
