Im going to do a bit of a repost here, since I already linked some raw audio of this. Theres now an official video out for Billy Boyds new farewell to Middle-Earth. Only one month until The Battle of Five Armies! Billy Boyd, most notably known for his role as Pippin in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, has released a new song denoting the end of a long era. I remember a similar moment in my young life, sitting in the theater as the credits rolled at the conclusion of Return of the King and thinking My life is now over. What more is there to be had with no new Lord of the Rings films to look forward to? Again I am forced to face that most bittersweet of moments. The epic conclusion to a trilogy set in the fantastical world of Tolkiens Middle-Earth. For a second time I must walk into that theater knowing that this will be the greatest, and saddest, moment of my movie-going adventures. While I shall undoubtedly sit in rapture as the film plays up until its final scene, I shall also silently mourn the passing of an age. The final hurrah of a series of films so epic and amazing as to bring fans to tears. It is fitting then, I believe, that Thorin be laid to rest after the final battle along with his many companions. Their burial and fond remembrance echoes the sentiments of the fans who mourn the conclusion that we all hoped to never see, but knew would eventually come. As the faint light of the Arkenstone is hidden by the closing of the tomb of Thorin II Oakenshield, remember these films fondly. We put to rest the most cherished of franchises with fond memories and promises to return whenever we may. Enjoy this new release, titled The Last Goodbye by Billy Boyd. The words echo a bittersweet farewell that we all will go through as fans. Ill conclude this with a quote I believe fitting of this article.
