Im going to do the Whats Ailing You rant on FB tonight instead of in the group. This is where everyone gets to chime in about their health problems and whatever else is on their mind. My issue is diabetes. It runs in the family and it seems that it skips one sibling and the other gets it. I was the unfortunate one who got it in my late 30s. I popped a pill and it all went away back to normal. Within a year the pill was no longer effective. I went thru a trial of all different meds and insulin to see what worked and nothing ever worked worth a damn with me. I always thought that I could manage it better than what my doctor told me. Once I got thoroughly disgusted with listening to medical advice I ventured out to do it my way and it worked. I dont recommend this but I thought to put it out there just in case anyone may want to try the extreme method. I originally thought the excess weight gain triggered it so I reversed that and got down to my ideal weight. I dropped 90lbs within a year and kept it off. I exercised and changed the way I eat. Everything went back to nearly normal so I was pill and insulin free by controlling it with diet and exercise. I dont eat to cover the shot anymore. I dont eat because they say I have to... I just eat when the hell I want to and it feels like the right time. I think staying busy and getting exercise was the key. But if anyone should get the notion to try what I did, please do consult your doctor because what works for me may not work for you and I dont want to feel the blame for what could happen to you. I lived dangerously because I also went thru a phase of not caring and drinking a ton of Mountain Dew and Pepsi. I got to the point that my body adjusted to higher sugar levels. My lab work was awful and the doctor said its one of the highest triglyceride levels she has ever seen. A person with this kind of lab result should be in a coma, barely able to function and a series of organ failure should be happening... but it wasnt. Im not one to take a lot of pills nor follow doctors instructions evidently so I went on a long time like that and took the risk. When I decided to do something about it I just did what I thought would work and it did. I just wanted to let you guys know there are some people who can control it this way and some that cannot. I think the little bit of weight gain was what triggered it to begin with. I usually gain weight when I am stressed out over some man in my life. Ive seen this pattern so men, please stay away you are detrimental to my health ! LOL! But seriously the main thing is to take control and dont let it worry you because there are other things that can kill you quicker. November is diabetes awareness month. Kat
