Im going to give Mary Burke a chance. With Gov. Walker I had to feel hurt when he signed an old dead law back into life that allows schools to mascot my people. A law that put the burden on my children to prove why it felt like racist discrimination to have people make fun of the color of their skin. I thought the Governor would veto the mascot bill and he didnt. Then there was the mining bill. I still cant get past the day Governor Walker looked me in the eyes and told me to my face that he was not pushing the mining agenda, and that I needed to talk to republican senators and not him. I did. Dale Schultz was the only one who had the courage to vote his convictions. While Im thankful that Governor Walker sent me on a goose chase that turned up a true Eagle like Senator Schultz, I now thoroughly understand the Governor lied to my face. The mining law he signed into law is scientifically and socially unjust. I thought the Governor would veto the mining bill and he didnt. We as a Tribe now sit like the State of Wisconsin with Corporation greed and drool rolling into our ecosystems. Enoughs enough. Im gonna give Mary Burke a chance to show respect for all people and the lands and waters of this great State on the Big Lake.
