Im going to post a question, and Id love to know your thoughts on it. For those on my list who are also authors, Ill ask that you put only your reader hat on to answer this question. Im very much of the opinion that the cover of a book is one of the books strongest marketing tool, especially these days with digital in play. But lets put digital format aside for a moment and concentrate strictly on print. If you see a book cover that has a few extra perks on it, like embossing or foiling the title or certain design elements (which now incorporates a tactile experience as well as a visual one), how much does this impact your decision to buy the book? The origin of this question springs from a current discussion on a blog I follow and probably would bore most people to death, but such discussions rarely get pure reader input, and Im really curious about this particular thing. And what top three things encourage you to buy a book in print format? Many thanks for your input on both questions!
