Im going to tread lightly.... There is a viral video going around of a woman who recorded herself for hours walking the streets of New York to draw attention to and raise money for harassment. Im treading lightly because Im sensitive to the fact women are tired of it, and the trolling, harassment and cat calling should stop. Dont forget I said this. With that said, I thought the video did a poor job of executing that point. They grouped compliments AND general greetings in the same category. Not cool. She doesnt owe ANYONE, ANYTHING, but she declined to acknowledge any of the positives at all, while keeping a frown on her face the entire time. She didnt have to either. But its a slippery slope to group THOSE as harassment as well. Technology is already doing a good job making us numb to physical interaction. Be careful. A compliment........is a compliment. A greeting.......is a greeting. No one NEEDS validation from anyone, but Im not so sure a kind gesture should be obsolete in todays society, but harassment DOES need to stop. Just my opinion.....what do you think? Has our western culture influenced you to the point you dont want to be bothered at all?
