Im going to try a new feature out here at the HFC, The God Of The Day Award. This award will go to the average person ( or thing) that is very much like a god involved in our lives, that should be worshiped or at the very least appreciated more than they are. And unlike the mythological gods these can actually be seen and their effects on our lives felt and measured. I doubt it will actually be a daily thing and more like whenever I think of something and / or get around to posting it. You all can help by posting nominations in the comments section. If I can come up with some cool / funny Award Meme to add along to it I will. Anyway, lets kick it off with todays God Of The Day, traffic lights, and the people who program them. They watch over us from above, and they give us daily guidance and direction. We are beholden to their rules lest we suffer. While not always a perfect system, they in general keep most of us from crashing into each other on a daily basis, and get us where we need to go...eventually. Traffic lights are much like the universe in that there are certain set rules. Green means go. Red means stop. Yellow is that random bit of chaos thrown in for good measure. And much like time, they are constant and ceaseless, as anyone stuck at a red light at two in the morning with no oncoming traffic will tell you. So the next time you are on the road, take a moment to look up and say a little prayer to the Ruler of The Motorverse...especially when youre running late for work.
