Im going to use this as my first post on this page, as it is really what got it started in the first place. Its time we stopped blaming everything else on the image our kids have of themselves. It isnt Barbie, it isnt that magazine photographs are airbrushed, it isnt that Kate Winslet is photoshopped that little Susie has anorexia. Little Susie has anorexia because she never learned to appreciate herself for who she is. She never learned that there is a difference between celebrities and real people. She never learned that Barbie is a FREAKING DOLL. To all those people screaming about how this is Influencing our children in the wrong way, would YOU watch Greys Anatomy if it were Screech instead of Patrick Dempsey as the doctor? Would you watch The Bachelor if it were Steve Erkel as the dashing Bachelor, and he was surrounded by average-looking ladies? Just like anything else, folks, the entertainment industry has its money makers. And they are fantastic looking people that we will never look like selling fantastic things that we can never have. So what? I dont want Ryan Gosling to be real. I want him to be airbrushed. I want him to be UNREAL. Im not going to get bent out of shape about this kind of stuff. It Is What It Is.
