Im gonna say it, Im honestly a little surprised that the grand jury in New York didnt turn up any charges on the cop who was responsible for Eric Garners death. I remember watching that video and reporting about it when it happened, and I was quite taken back at their use of force in what should have otherwise been a relatively calm situation. Now, Im not going to go as far as to say that it was racially motivated(the cops actions) because Ive seen many cops get a hair in their ass when people question them even in the slightest and it kinda seems like that may have been what was going on there since the situation immediately escalated once they tried to cuff him. However I dont believe that particular incident warranted the actions that were taken. I know, resisting arrest gives an officer the right to use physical force, but when someone is shouting they cant breathe while they have someones arms wrapped around their neck and someone else forcing their face into the ground I think its up to the officers to use better judgement and back off, especially when Garner had not been threatening towards them prior to their jumping on his back. Yes, this has become a hot-button issue, but we also have to remain objective throughout it all, and from an objective point of view I think the police took it too far with him. But thats just me..
