Im guilty of being one of those glass half empty people and I can accept that.. This season started out as the one Id hoped for since the day I walked onto the campus of Ole Miss for the first time. That was a little while ago, by the way.... Perhaps I wanted it as much, if not more, than the players. I wanted it and knew it was now or not for a long time to come. We had everything in place to make it happen and it was happening - 7 games in a row with 7 wins took my half empty glass to overflowing but then it all collapsed in Baton rouge and just never seemed to come back. There are already folks saying well, wait until next season... For them and everyone else, heres another shot of that reality I like dishing out. At the end of this season, we lose 20 seniors. 9 of them are starters or key players. Playmakers such as Cody Prewitt, DT Shackleford, Sequez Golson, Bo Wallace, and Vince Sanders are gone at the end of this season and their absence will be notable in the spring. This was our year to shine before we enter a rebuilding year. The shine is gone now and next season will still be a rebuilding year where we struggle to find replacements for those key seniors. Tonight showed us we have no viable replacement for Bo. Without that, next season will be a hard one and we may struggle to get 6 wins in a conference with too many teams on the rise. Im hoping the recruiters pull a freshman-messiah out of their hats before February but for now, we just dont have anyone.. As for the rest of this season, we have one game left against a team who has beaten everyone who beat us.. As much as Id love to see an upset and as much as we can all hope for it, the probability is low and in all likelihood, our season will be over at 8-4. So yes, my glass is half empty again.... Does it mean Im less of a fan? No, but at the same time, Im not going to say aww, they played hard, did good and the coaches are great when things look as horrible as they did tonight.
