Im happy to finally be able to report some good news on the Dr. Herschel Rubin front... Monday evening, a few hours after Suzi Davis Birdsey Rubin and I arrived back in East Liverpool, it seemed as if the fog that had been enveloping Dad for the past several weeks began to lift. (I told him it was due to the medicinal qualities of my famous meat loaf, which I made right after we got here.) We took him to the doctor this afternoon and he was pretty much his old... um, I mean, normal self... joking about wanting to live to 120 and then figuring out what to do next. His hearing seems to be improving and hes much more like the man we know and love. I think weve moved from cautiously optimistic to full-blown optimistic. Hes talking again about making a trip to Columbus that we have planned in a little over three weeks for the Centennial of the College of Optometry at The Ohio State University - something hes been looking forward to for a year. We are grateful to God and everyone for this positive turn of events. Thank you all for your words of encouragement, prayers and good karma.
