Im hearing a lot lately, the specious scenario justifying torture: If your child was kidnapped and you had the kidnapper in custody, what measures would you use to find out where your child was held? Of course, in an unambiguous case like that we would all favor any measures necessary. The problem with that analogy is that doesnt pertain in any way to to the steps our government took to ensure our safety. A more accurate scenario would be, If your child was kidnapped and you rounded up a random group of likely suspects not knowing whether or not they were guilty of anything at all, what measures would you use just to find out if they had any information?
