Im here; if youve notice, I havent been online in a while. I apologize for which. However, heres the story as to why: So anyone whos been following will know about the mold issue. So we took them to court and lost. However, before which, we created an escrow account (we paid the courts the monthly rent). The apartment attorneys were unaware of this... Although, a few days after we created the escrow account, we took the receipt, to Christy, the apartment manager of Genito Glen Apartments... We stood there (I sat in my wheelchair), until she read it. Then we left a copy in her office. Shes the one that was at court when we took the apartments to court; somehow she forgot about that day.. So after the court date, their lawyers stated we broke the lease and were responsible for the rent + the landlords legal fees... BTW, thats illegal, IF we did not break the lease and were NOT behind on payment of the rent. Hint: Illegal means they cannot enforce it. It states as such in the Virginia Landlord and Residential Tenant Act... Um... VLRTA... It states its illegal, even if stated in the lease, to hold the tenant responsible for the legal fees of the landlord, as long as the tenant did not break the lease (primarily stating missing/late on rent and all that). So we were previously release, yea RELEASED from the lease BEFORE July 2014... However, they failed to supply us with a written statement of such. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau... ALWAYS DO THIS! Heres why: The Better Business Bureau sent me a letter, which was forwarded from Genito Glen... stating we were already released from the lease prior than July 2014... Which automatically released us from the lease... They would have sent the BBB (Better Business Bureau) a written notification before theyd send us one! THATS NOT RIGHT, and should definitely NOT be legal, especially if they exclaim to their legal council that we did something else, and Im worried they reported us to the credit bureau, or whatever you call it. Which would be slander.
