Im hoping that I saved a young mans life this afternoon. As I was on my way to see my mom this kid 17 to 20 years old decides to walk right in front of traffic on Leffingwell rd in Whittier. He almost got hit by a car. As I passed by he proceeded to keep crossing the street and decides to sit down right in the middle of the street. I could see him in my rear view mirror and cars were stopping then going around him. I decided to make a u-turn and pull up by him and put my flashers on and call 911, they put me thru to norwalk sherrifs dept who took all the info and asked If I would stay in the area until they arrived. I guess he knew I was calling 911 and got up and walked in front of traffic to the other side of the street where there was a girl in an SUV driving right beside him. He finally got in the car but the cops were already showing up. I pulled up next to them and the girlfriend said they had been fighting but she was gonna take him home. I told her not to drive off since the cops were coming up behind us. The stupid kid was cussing at me and telling the GF to just take off. I started telling him how dare you put your life in jeopardy and risk other peoples life by doing what he did. By this time I was shaking and crying. Fortunately the cops got there took him out of the car and ended up handcuffing him. I dont know if he was taken in or not. I dont know if I would be able to handle it if I would have heard later on the news that he was hit by a car and killed. I understand why people dont like to get involved but when you see a kid that could be your sons age its reality! Thank God he was ok.
