Im humbled tonight. And heartbroken. Im feeling for a family that lost a GIANT of a human being. He was quiet, soft-spoken, but LIVE OUT LOUD by the way he LOVED. Im talking about Billy McKinney. Ive never met him. But what I know about him gives me goosebumps! Billy took his own vacation days to spend time at the hospital with his friend when that friends father was in poor health. Billy adored his two daughters. He lived for his family. His love for his wife was so strong, she just wanted to leave the hospital with his body yesterday. Despite the fact Billy is gone now. Billy died the way he lived. Serving. Billy was helping strangers who crashed as a result of ice in the road during that freezing rain event yesterday. He had just finished working a 12-hour shift. He was standing near the stranded passengers car when it happened. A tractor-trailer slipped on the same patch of ice that caught those strangers. And the rig hit Billy. What a way to die. And Im not saying that as a bad thing. Sure, his family is hurting. This loss will never be filled in this life. He was too big of a man. He took care of business. He loved. He served. He loved to serve. But he died loving. He died serving. Billy, you are my hero brother. Rest in peace. Save a place for me in heaven my man. I cant wait to shake your hand. And if Billys family ever gets the chance to read this... Know that he is with you. Hes watching. And his legacy will live on through how he poured his love on you. Because that love is destined to come right back out to bless others. It already has. God bless you. FM
