Im in a daze right now, and its not just the beer. After todays surprise with the International Book Awards prize... Ive just been offered a job to write another book. Like, a paid job to write a full-length book. Its not going to make me rich or anything and this one would certainly be more of a local history book than The King of Casinos: Willie Martello & the El Rey Club, but the proceeds would go to a very good cause, and the money could keep me from going bankrupt for about 3 or four months, something which is a genuine concern right now thanks to a few entertainment ventures that are not keeping me busy this year (Was that diplomatic enough?). I will have about three or four months off unless the calendar fills up. Most of the research is already done for me. Id just need to conduct interviews and make sense of it all, hoping to find a story there and hoping I can TELL the story. Freaking out. I wont lie. FREAK—ING OUT.
