Im in for the night after a wonderful weekend with my big brother Lee here. Yesterday he visited our cousin Dean at the nursing home, helping him go through old photos of family and friends, while I spent some serious Girl Time with my friend and former pastor Tammy. Today Lee and I had our oatmeal breakfast at McDonalds and then finished my churchs newsletter in my office there, before we left for the annual Lyster Lutefisk and Meatball dinner, where we gathered with more family and friends. Lyster was Moms childhood church, so we all felt her absence this year more than ever. MOM LOVED LUTEFISK! She ate nothing but that at the yearly dinners because she always said, I can have all that other stuff at home, but I cant have LUTEFISK! Last year she was too weak to attend, so Lee had it delivered to her through a friend of ours. Her whole face lit up when Bob showed up with her favorite fish! Her caregiver, Marianne, however, was less enthusiastic about reheating this traditional Norwegian cod delicacy, especially since Mom could only eat small portions and Marianne had to reheat the fish four times, gagging each time she did. :-) Now, Lees gone home and Im all cozied up with some hot chocolate, my favorite cookies, and a string of Hallmark Christmas movies on TV. Ah, this is bliss!
