Im in kind of a predicament here, and figured Id ask my ever-so-knowledgable and insightful fans and friends on here for their opinions... My laptop absolutely CAN NOT handle any of the new stuff Im producing, and this makes me really frustrated being that Im trying to make much more unique and professional music as of recently. Any time I near about halfway through a new track, I begin hitting HUGE overloads that only allows me to pretty much hear a half bar of a drop at a time. I know this could be fixed if I would bounce everything to audio, but Im consistently learning new techniques that I apply and change on almost every aspect of each song I work on. This however, is primarily due to the fact that right now Im running a stock MacBook Pro 13 from 2011. Being that Im not exactly the most wealthy human being, I need to seriously consider upgrading but in a cost-effective manner. This leaves me with two choices/questions for you all: 1: Should I just upgrade the piss out of the ram on this computer, make it a beast or: 2: Should I deal with this for a while longer, and hold out until I have the money to get a newer, upgraded model possibly with a bigger display so that I can also work a bit more comfortably? Id love for you all to discuss below, its just a concern thats been growing exponentially with each new project I start, and Im now writing the best music I have ever done (in my opinion) and hate feeling like I could do so much better without my laptop shitting out all the time while Im working, interrupting my work flow which ultimately leads to me not being able to execute my ideas while they are fresh and completely inspired. I just want to write the greatest music I possibly can, but this computer just cant keep up in its current state unfortunately. BEGIN DISCUSSION. Thank you all in advance!
