Im in something of a ponderous mood atm. Following the recent release of the TFA trailer, and SW fans at fever pitch either way, its got me thinking in terms of the viability of this page. It strikes me with a sadness that by this time next year, Mara Jade will be more or less a virtually forgotten character, except by only the ardent small proportion of EU fans and cosplayers. I say small, because the SW fandom is huge, and the EU but one proportion of that. Theres certainly a lot of fierce animosity levied at the EU Legends of recent which makes me sad also. Im now considering altering the Dark Leia & Mara Jade fan fic Im still in the process of mapping out, and simply having Dark Leia on her own. It depends largely also on the character to be played by Daisy Ridley, I could well make alterations when we know more, and have a new support character for Dark Leia, its all hypothetical at this point. Im conscious of the fact that somewhere down the line, and especially if we attract new fans not familiar with the Legends EU, people are going to start wondering what the hell were smoking...! As for Mara Jade, its true that awesome characters live on, no matter what fate befalls them in this fictional universe. Shell live on in my heart, always. However, she met her fate at the hands of Darth Caedus, a story in itself which now technically doesnt count, never has done, and never will to the masses. I still sort of hold out a faint hope the LFL writers group havent completely wiped Mara from existence, and give us some sort of spin off. But I highly doubt it now. Shes been great for this page, but it may well be the time to let her go. #MaraJadeLove.
