Im incredibly surprised tonight to learn that our city of Phoenix alone (or actually a combination of The City of Phoenix Office of Arts and other arts and culture-related partnerships including Arizona State University Art Museum) this year was supposed to have received WELLLLL over $700,000 in grant money to distribute to artists and organizations throughout the valley during the course of the next year. Over $470,00 was allocated toward a variety of art-related venues that still charge the public to enjoy, AND the real winner turned out to be Phoenix Symphony Association who wound up w/ over $100,000. Second largest payout went to the AZ Theater Company. Who is that really? It is actually Herberger Theater (ASU) and a random theater in Tucson I couldnt find much about at all. Im pretty intrigued.
