Im just going to vent for a wee mo ... hey its TGIF. I am tired of indifference. Those who are disenfranchised exhaust me. Those who say they care and dont walk the talk depress me. Those who are kind, compassionate and real lift my spirits. Those who know what it means to be a real friend make my life worthwhile. Now that Im 48 (sigh) I realize that I need to surround myself with kindred souls who lift me up, not cut me down. I need to be around those few who understand me, in all my highs and lows. Those who have the patience to hang in there and who know that despite what I am personally going through and despite my re-entry into the cave, have faith in me that I will eventually return and they will act like I never left. They will let me know they missed me but they wont hold it against me because they are true friends. I dont need to tag em all out b/c they know who they are. My hope for those who simply dont get it, is that they never have to walk in my shoes. Having a brain disease such as bipolar is so challenging as it is ... and I can not simply afford to let others who simply dont know how to be human and to feel anothers pain get to me. You see those who are bipolar are delicate gentle very sensitive souls who perhaps are not meant to roam the earth for too long. But we are also those who give way more than we take, who smile through the pain and do what needs to be done to take care of those we love. IMHO, the world needs more of us, and we cant afford to lose anymore too soon. Yes, we may be a wee pain in the ass but we mean well. We love. We feel. We give. We hurt. We want to make this world a better place for others who share our plight. And, for that, I thank those brave and gentle warriors who share my diagnosis for in you I find solace, peace and hope.
