Im just throwing this out there b/c Ive seen so much hostility on the page. I see both sides to a point, meaning, adopt if you can at all cost b/c certain breeds such as Pitts and chihuahuas are in shelters now. However, the REPUTABLE breeders of breeds that have literally died out and breed for the LOVE of the breed and do not want to see a particular breed die out around here, I can support. Examples of breeds that seem to have died out since I took care of them when I worked at Westbrook Animal Hospital are the collie, Irish setter, king Charles spaniel, Scottish terriers, Brittanys, and the list goes on. Reputable breeders who are in it to see these dying breeds flourish I can support. After so much research in this county, even veterinarians are wishing that bulldogs, Pitts, chihuahuas, and others would die down a little b/c of over breeding or health reasons.
