Im laid up for a few days with an infection in my lower legs. I want to use this time to get a couple of old model projects finish and some new ones started. I want to build several cars from the Boone/ Webster City tracks from about 1970 to 1975. One of the first ones I want to tackle is this version of Gene Schattschneiders #56. I had always thought it was a 65 Chevelle but on closer examination, the roof (especially the rear pillars) doesnt match the Chevelle. So question 1: What is the body style? Question 2: I assumed that most of the center steer cars were based on a 55-57 Chevy frame? Were they converted to a coil spring rear suspension or did they stay with leaf springs? Question 3? I know this was a time of transition for the cars so was it a beer keg or a fuel cell? I only have a couple of pictures and some 40 year old memories for reference material so I am hoping that the great fans here will be able to help add some details!
