Im leaving the Group after posting just one song. Why? Cant take - TopicsExpress

Im leaving the Group after posting just one song. Why? Cant take criticism? Nope - Im realistic to know that you cant please all the people all the time and the majority of the comments I got were constructive (for which I offer my grateful thanks). Tips on how to improve the production and sound were invaluable as were some of the advice I was given on how to improve the arrangement and mix. HOWEVER, it took about 5 minutes after I posted my song for someone to complain that I had reviewed three songs and then posted mine and then answered posts on my own song instead (presumably) of reviewing others. Actually, by the time I read that, Id posted 6 reviews but hey-ho. I thought it only good manners to answer those who had taken the time to give me advice but there you go. There also seems to be a minority of people who want to find the negatives - being told by someone who claimed to not really be into lyrics that one of my lines was tautological seemed a bit troll-like (allied to complaining that my guitar was out of tune - evidently, according to what I read, EVERYONES guitar is out of tune according to this guy). I tend to think that if I cant find something good to say or add something constructive to the discussion I would rather keep quiet. Why would I write to say something is not my sort of thing.? Thats a comment about me - not the song in question and therefore irrelevant. But my main reason for leaving is the fact that I have realised that every time I comment on a song (and I have deliberately gone out of my way to listen to songs that dont appear at first glance to be my sort of thing and then commented when I realised that I actually enjoyed them) that then triggers every further comment on that thread to appear on my Facebook news feed. I am currently touring Spain and France and my internet access is intermittent. Today, after being offline for three days I find I have 96 unread items in my Facebook newsfeed - all but 4 of them from this Group - even though I tried to alter my settings to avoid this. Life is too short to read them. I love the idea of this group and wish it well but until the problem with the newsfeed is sorted and some of the less constructive members change their ways I will stay away. I have been writing and recording songs for years so a bit of negativity from a few people is hardly likely to dent my massive ego but those just starting out need support and advice, not negativity. Im sure some will reply to this with a rant about me. Save your effort - Ive left the group so I wont see it anyway. I do, however, think the admins - whose aims I greatly admire - might want to think about the points I raise. Good luck to all those who write their own music - we need as many as we can get and those that get up the courage to try deserve every encouragement.
