Im listening to the Minister of Sport complaining in lack of transformation in different sporting codes. Hes even threatening to increase the quota system to have a 60% black representation if nada happens. My are what have we been doing to support various black sport development? Majority of townships n villages do not have swimming pools, how do we expect development of black swimmers that can compete at the international level? Soccer, the biggest transformed sporting code in SA, struggles with development & improved performance at international level. Golf, in Daveyton half of the course was converted into a residential area, the remaining half is badly maintained. So how do u expect young black golfers will come out of Vutha when the facility to develop on doesnt even exist? I can quote lotsa examples. I just feel that to a huge extend, we are blaming white sports officials for lack of sport development ya bo-darkie across n never looking at our contributions to the mess. Basketball was run down by black officials and administrators. Government did intervene after many years. At least now a professional league was revived in 2013.
