Im listening to the wind. It has thrown the deck chairs to the ground. It whistles into the tiniest cracks around the windows and howls through the trees as though it hasnt figured out Halloween is over. The temperatures have fallen steadily, and Im comforted by the sound of the furnace kicking on from time to time. A chilly fall has finally arrived, but Im ready with a cup of hot tea and plenty of blankets on my bed. Even the dogs have curled up on the throws and pillows around the house. Tonight is a night for a hot shower, warm pajamas and extra blankets on every bed. Larry Hansen, our shelter manager assured me this afternoon that wed open up the chapel for an extra 15 homeless men tonight. Please pray for every man and woman who has found warmth and comfort at KCRM and other shelters in our city. And pray especially for those who havent.
