Im looking for people who are interested in playing an augmented reality game. This is a video game of sorts, but you dont sit on your couch and play. Instead, its a smartphone app (android or IOS) that uses your phones data service and GPS to locate and interact with actual places in the real world. These are usually things like works of art, historic artifacts (signs, building, bridges, points of interest, etc.), unique local businesses, places of worship, and a few others. Part of the goal of the game is to get outside and learn a bit about the community and the rest of the world around us. Since Ive been playing (about a year), Ive been amazed at the things Ive seen and learned that I had been blissfully unaware of. For example, I discovered numerous pieces of art around town that I had never noticed before. There is also competition, but its between opposing teams, or factions (there are just two, us and them), not so much individuals. There arent guns or shooting. Instead, we attempt to capture and control these locations. There are many other players throughout the Snoqualmie Valley (and easily a couple thousand in the greater Puget Sound area). Ive met dozens of people while playing, many of whom I now consider to be friends. Many of them have spouses and kids who play as well. Some people walk a lot, some drive, some even hike to remote locations. If it sounds interesting and youd like to learn more, please PM me and Id be happy to show you the ropes. I dont get money, credit, or anything else beyond the satisfaction of finding others who might enjoy joining us and helping build a bigger, stronger team.
