Im lost. Sorry, Im lost. I dont know what to think anymore, and the more everyone seems fortified in an opinion, all that does is make me more lost. The death in Gaza is indefensible. The military campaign is destroying the possibility of a peaceful future between Israel and the Palestinians. It isnt the answer, it never was. It was wrong to begin with and it is wrong now. But - Maybe there shouldnt be a but, but I cant help it - Why are you singling Israel out? Do you know how many people died in Syria the past week? Wheres the front covers, the bloody pictures, the finger pointing, the vilification, the demonization, the worldwide violent protests, the cries over the loss of civilization, the sheer hate and outrage spilling unto keyboards and streets? Its clear to me what side I am on: I believe that peace is the only answer. I believe violence begets violence, I believe that the only thing that will destroy hatred and violence in the long run is Arabs and Israelis working together to build a common future. I voted as far left as I could in the Israeli election, and I am a very vocal critic of this government. But why do I find myself, again and again, recoiling from peace lovers like me, who are willfully ignoring the murderous nature of radical groups that take power by force and advocate blind hatred and violence? Who have a little too much venom... Who are not adding to the peace, but rather adding to the hatred. Is it just post colonial guilt? What is it? Im lost.
