Im more of a listener, but the events of the last few days are atrocious and sadly/horribly not unusual. I value all life but our country clearly puts profit and control over life. My heart and thoughts go out to Eric Garner, Michael Brown, their families and the literally millions of other black and brown bodied people murdered and affected by our system of injustice. Its upsetting, but not surprising, that police are not held accountable for their obvious inhumanity, but its even more upsetting that these murders happen in the first place. I agree with the article below and I will be reading The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander which goes in depth into another broken and discriminatory system in the US, mass incarceration. Policing in America is not broken. The judicial system is not broken. American society is not broken. All are functioning perfectly, doing exactly what they have done since before some of this nations most prosperous slave-murdering robber-barons came together to consecrate into statehood the mechanisms of their barbarism.
