Im nice, even to people who dont deserve it. I try to be tolerant and patient, Im a people pleaser to the extreme. Usually this comes at the expense of myself and my beautiful husband who gets dragged along for the ride. Because of this inclination towards people pleasing, Ive found myself being taken advantage of a lot (especially by a few repeat offenders). Ive had to learn that there are people who just use and use and that theres nothing you can ever do that will truly satisfy these people. They will always see you for what you can do for them and only what you can do for them. You are nothing more than a means to an end. Coming to this realisation has sent me on a journey of personal discovery I suppose and I have spent the last few months focusing on picking myself up off the floor and no longer being a door mat. Its not been easy and I have to keep reminding myself not to go back to my old ways. I got to stand up for myself today - something I normally wouldnt do. I went ape shit and it felt good! Previously I would retreat at the first sign of conflict. But today I decided to take a stand and refuse to be treated badly. It was something small, but a big deal for me. I wish I had learned to do this years ago!
